A CELEBRATION OF LIFE FOR SONGWRITER DAVID OLNEY AT BELCOURT THEATRE, NASHVILLE, TN : PART TWO - MARCH 9, 2020

A Celebration of Life for David Olney, the widely acclaimed and wholly unique singer-songwriter, was held on Monday, March 9, at the Belcourt Theatre in Nashville, TN. The event for Olney, who died January 18 during a performance in Florida, featured musical and spoken segments in recognition of his life as a husband, father, brother, and friend, as well as the author and performer of brilliant works, including “Jerusalem Tomorrow,” “Roses,” “1917,” “Deeper Well,” “Women Across The River,” and hundreds of others.  

Exposed worldwide for the way he died, admired by many for the way he lived, and revered for his songs and poetry, David Olney was also known for the company he kept, including the incredible collaborators who accompanied him in the writing room, on record and on stage.

Exposed worldwide for the way he died, admired by many for the way he lived, and revered for his songs and poetry, David Olney was also known for the company he kept, including the incredible musicians who often accompanied him on record and on stage. 

 “A Celebration of Life for David Olney: The Lampshades at The Belcourt Theatre”  —  The 24+ minute video features “The Lampshades” — four of David Olney’s longtime side-players and collaborators performing instrumental versions of David Olney’s indelible melodies and music as folks are being seated in the theater for the main event. A video with the featured artists and speakers from the event will post later this week.  

THE LAMPSHADES include Daniel Seymour (bass), Sergio Webb (guitar), Ward Stout (fiddle) and Justin Amaral (percussion). We encourage you to visit these artists on their socials and witness them live in any configuration, as well as on David Olney’s many recordings.
